Disconnect from your routine. Discover new destinations. Reconnect with your roots. Spring offers multiple options to enjoy your free time. Travelling and visiting other places opens the door to new experiences. An opportunity to observe the transformation that the energy transition is generating in our society and our environment. And the best part is that, without realising it, we are already a part of it. Even during our leisure time.

Because whether you choose the countryside, the sea, or the city as a holiday destination, the energy transition can become your travel companion. It is a reality that weaves its way into our holidays, our photos, and our stories. A reflection of the change brought about by the commitment to clean energy.

Rural harmony

In villages, where time takes on a different pace, the energy transition is advancing steadily. Blending in with the environment while simultaneously protecting it. In places like Paradela, farming traditions live in harmony with energy-producing wind turbines. This is where the change becomes tangible: renewables generate income for municipalities, help retain the local population, diversify the economy, and develop projects to protect the area's biodiversity.

Where the wind dances with the sea

The winds of change are also blowing along our coasts. As in El Hierro, where wind turbines not only outline the horizon but also transform everyday life. Here, clean energy makes it possible to turn this remote natural paradise into a self-sufficient and sustainable island. This ensures it can rely on its own resources and care for them meticulously so they are not depleted.

A look back at our history

The pulse of change can also be felt in cities. Our cities hide vestiges of our energy past. If we look beyond the façades, we can see how the energy transition is revolutionising our streets and buildings. That city heart that never sleeps advances at a steady pace, turning cities into silent witnesses to the past. Buildings such as the former Vilanova thermal power plant in Barcelona, designed by modernist architect Pere Falqués and now converted into Endesa's main headquarters in Catalonia, are synonymous with the present and the future.

Historic settings for art

Now, let's travel to the heart of the mountains, where the air is purer and silence mingles with birdsong. There, we discover that the pulse of change beats strongly too. Former hydroelectric power plants, once considered merely technical infrastructure, are being reinvented as cultural spaces. In Camarasa, for instance, engineering coexists with contemporary dance. The stage is no longer confined to a theatre; it is also surrounded by the water, rock, and concrete that once tamed the river and today provides us with art and clean electricity.

Sustainable shows

Event venues, such as the Movistar Arena in Madrid, are evolving on their path towards efficiency and sustainability. They have begun to electrify with renewables, proving that putting on a show is not at odds with environmental commitment. Concerts and basketball matches at the world's second-best venue for large-scale events are now powered by clean energy, demonstrating that entertainment can also be sustainable. Infrastructure is changing, transport is being electrified, and buildings are being refurbished to consume less and generate more. The city never stops and is moving towards a cleaner model.

Fun powered by the sun

Every ride, every light, every musical note is powered by green energy. Theme parks like PortAventura have begun their own transition, electrifying rides, installing renewables, and reducing their ecological footprint. The leading leisure destination in the Mediterranean boasts the largest solar PV plant for self-consumption at a holiday resort in Spain and the installation of the largest electric vehicle charging hub on the peninsula. Because leisure doesn't have to be a burden on the planet.
